ABOUT THIS ISSUE
This issue is a special one. It is
dedicated to musical software for the
Commodore-64. We all know that the
C-64 has some GREAT potential when
it comes to making music. The SID
chip is more complex than some TRUE
<f5 for more>
synthesizers. The possibilities of
the SID chip are practically
limitless. The problem comes when
trying to tap into those capabilities.
If you've tried to use a reference
guide to write music, you know what a
chore it can be. All of those PEEKs
and POKEs can drive a person bonkers!
This is why music systems were
developed. Musical systems attempt to
make the chore of creating music less
tedious by having the program and
computer do most of the work while you
sit back and twiddle your joystick.
The purpose of this issue is to
give you, the buyer, some insight into
the workings of the more popular music
composing systems on the markey today.
This issue will cover these systems:
MUSICALC
CONCERT MASTER/MELODIAN
STUDIO-64
SIGHT & SOUND SOFTWARE
and
SYNTHY-64
Each of these software packages has
been reviewed and when possible, a
demonstration program, music, etc..
has been included.
This issue is not intended to
advocate one system in preference to
another, nor does it attempt to
compare the systems. All we hoped to
do is find the facts and present them
to you, the consumer. We hope that
based upon these facts, you will be
able to decide which system best fits
your needs.
In no way do we mean to imply that
these are the ONLY musical systems
available, nor do we mean to imply
that these are the best. We merely
present these as a sample of what is
available for music creation.
Now, without further ado...maestro...
